I recently decided I needed to go to a Chiropractor because I have some tightness in my back and mild, yet constant back pain. So I went to my closest Chiropractor and had a new patient exam done. She told me that she practices "Network Spinal Analysis". Of course I didn't know what that meant. I went to my first session. It was 15 mins long. She touched my back a total of 5 times (and when I say touched, she tapped my back) and told me to breathe into where she had tapped. Between the taps, she attends to her other patients, gets coffee, chats with coworkers.... After the session, she says I seem looser. I'm not really sure... maybe because I arrived at my session after walking 20 mins hunched over in -40C snowy network chiropractic weather and spent 15 mins warming up and breathing that actually made my back looser. I had back pain going into the session, and came out with the same back pain. Possibly unrelated, but that night I had severe back pain. (of course since I don't believe that she actually did anything, so I don't believe that she can make my back worse)Essentially, this treatment isn't even giving me the placebo effect, because it seems so hand-wavy to me. It seems like something I could do at home for free. Is this a scam???She has asked me to lock in appointments with her 3 times a week for 8 weeks. I've been reading online, and as someone with higher level education, the stuff online is bogus. It talks too much about how it will make your ENTIRE life better and not enough about when I need to go to someone three times a week for 5 back taps. "It's to bring your body to be aware of stress areas"...blah blah blah. Apparently it's supposed to help with my emotional stress??? (I'm 23, what emotional stress do I have???)I don't know if I should do this. Should I just concede that she is a professional and that she MUST know what's she's doing? Should I find a more traditional chiropractor? Maybe I should go to someone more traditional, who can give me some instant back pain relief, then go to someone who thinks they can help with me emotional stress. (Anyone actually get this treatment with great results... if so, in how long? How long were your appointments? How many times a week? How does the tapping even help (vs, doing breathing exercises at home)?Thanks!

It is the longest and fattest nerve in the human body and there are several things that can easily put pressure on it which can lead to severe lower back pain and leg pain.

              Sometimes it is caused by just sitting in an uncomfortable chair or even lying in bed. Stress can result in muscle tightness and this can lead to pressure on the sciatic nerve. When it hurts, it is called sciatica.

              Lower back pain is the number one condition that is presented to me at my Physiotherapy clinic. It will affect up to 80% of us at some stage in our lives - and it is 80% of my daily work.

              How this undeniably vague advice would play out for each individual in pain... is nearly anyone's guess. Each individual's perception of soft or firm would be different.

              Back Pain Causes

              If you are washing your clothes the old-fashioned way, you've probably experience upper back pain most of the time.                           When most people get home from a long day they generally take their shoes off and get their feet up.  At the end of the day most people will find that their shoes feel snugger than they did when they put them on.  Their feet feel hot and tired.  What they are looking for is some relief for their aching feet.  Gravity is responsible for all of this aching and discomfort.  Even people who sit all day find that the fluids and blood in the body will pool in their legs and feet making them swollen and painful. This effect is increased for people who stand or walk all day long.  It is because of this that podiatrists recommend you shop for new shoes in the later part of the day when your feet are swollen. 

                          There are many jobs that aggravate your feet during the day.  Traffic police, teachers, salespeople, nurses, postal workers and anyone who is standing and walking during the course of their job will find that their feet ache at the end of the day.  People who dance and participate in athletic activities will also find that their feet take a beating and produce soreness and aching at the end of the day.  Whether it is because of a job or your activities, most people will suffer from tired aching feet at the end of the day.  They will want to find the most effective and back ache quick remedy to relieve their sore foot.

                          Once you have finished soaking your feet you should lift them out of the water one at a time and scrub them with a gentle soap and bath brush.  Wash your feet carefully between the toes and all around.  Rinse the soap off completely and pat the foot dry with a towel.  This is a good time to cut your toenails or treat the cuticles.  They will be nice and soft from the soaking.  Now you should rub in a good quality foot lotion into the muscles of your feet.  While you are rubbing your feet make sure that you pay particular attention to the balls and heels of your feet as well as your ankles and arches.  Take the time to work on each toe and you will feel the ache and tension just float away from your feet. 

                          For the best care of your feet you should pay attention to your shoes.  You should have at least two pair of shoes that fit you well and are comfortable enough to wear to work.  You should make sure you alternate between the shoes so that they have a good amount of time to dry out in between wearing.  You can reduce the odor on your feet and shoes by wearing socks that are absorbent and using a foot spray deodorant.  These sprays are perfect for any time that you want a little quick relief from your sore aching feet.

                              I am a 26 yr old mother of 3. I always had decent health and no problems until the last year or so. I am having problems with my digestive system (constipation off and on) and issues with my urinary track (getting all the symptoms of UTI's, but tests come out negative. only thing they said was there was some blood in my urine and I had low potassium level). Now I have been dealing with off and on lower back pain which ranges from severe and debilitating to sore and annoying. Today the pain has been sore and annoying and I noticed that where the pain left side back pain symptoms was I have what feels like a big swolen lymph node inside my left lower back. I noticed a lump in there a few months ago, but it was smaller then. My primary doc is a ready care (have med access) and I quit going to my doctor about 5-6 months ago because I wasnt getting anywhere with them with my digestive and urinary issues (all they did was a simple x-ray, blood and urine tests, told me the x-ray showed I had some blockage, blood in urine test, and the low potassium thing. So they gave me laxative, tole me to go home and eat bananas, drink orange juice, and they would set me up with a specialist.... NEVER DID!). So if anyone has ever experienced this, or knows any possibilities as to what it may be, PLEASE let me know! If its something that I would really need to see a doctor immediatly I will try and get a better Doctor and get in. But I have been just putting it off because I am so discouraged and wore out from all the other doctor/ER visits in the past, as well as having a house of 5 to take care of and my husband has the vehicle every day til 6pm and will NOT take off work to take me to a doctor unless it is considered an emergency or potentially life threatening.
