Strange pain in ovaries/abdomen?
I had an accident a couple years ago resulting in a back injury and since then have had lower back pain but now I am wondering if that pain is ovary related. Lately I have been feeling lower back injuries symptoms a kind of bubbly feeling in my ovary area, like when you get a small leg cramp and your muscle twitches, thats exactly what it feels like.               I woke up this morning,and had some excruciating back pain,and I think mostly backpain it's due to the way I slept.               The sciatic nerve starts off at the base of your spine and runs through your buttocks and then down the leg ending in both feet. It is the longest and fattest nerve in the human body and there are several things that can easily put pressure on it which can lead to severe lower back pain and leg pain.

              Sometimes it is caused by just sitting in an uncomfortable chair or even lying in bed. Stress can result in muscle tightness and this can lead to pressure on the sciatic nerve. When it hurts, it is called sciatica.

              Lower back pain is the number one condition that is presented to me at my Physiotherapy clinic. It will affect up to 80% of us at some stage in our lives - and it is 80% of my daily work.

              How this undeniably vague advice would play out for each individual in pain... is nearly anyone's guess. Each individual's perception of soft or firm would be different.

              Back Pain Causes

              If you are washing your clothes the old-fashioned way, you've probably experience upper back pain most of the time. The pain starts from the shoulder blade and then spreads to the lung area. Being exposed to too much heat and suddenly cooling yourself in front of an air conditioner is another caused to have an aching back. Laborer backpain and cargo men also experience extreme pain in the upper back area because of too much strain place on it.                       When most people get home from a long day they generally take their shoes off and get their feet up.  At the end of the day most people will find that their shoes feel snugger than they did when they put them on.  Their feet feel hot and tired.  What they are looking for is some relief for their aching feet.  Gravity is responsible for all of this aching and discomfort.  Even people who sit all day find that the fluids and blood in the body will pool in their legs and feet making them swollen and painful. This effect is increased for people who stand or walk all day long.  It is because of this that podiatrists recommend you shop for new shoes in the later part of the day when your feet are swollen. 

                      There are many jobs that aggravate your feet during the day.  Traffic police, teachers, salespeople, nurses, postal workers and anyone who is standing and walking during the course of their job will find that their feet ache at the end of the day.  People who dance and participate in athletic activities will also find that their feet take a beating and produce soreness and aching at the end of the day.  Whether it is because of a job or your activities, most people will suffer from tired aching feet at the end of the day.  They will want to find the most effective and back ache quick remedy to relieve their sore foot.

                      The quickest way to find some relief is to sit in a comfortable chair and put your feet up.  They should be elevated at least as high as your hips.  Take your shoes off and any socks or stockings that you are wearing that are keeping your circulation bound.  You are trying to use gravity now to relieve some of the damage that it caused earlier.  You should keep your feet elevated for at least thirty minutes to give the swelling a chance to go down.  While you have your feet up you should wiggle your toes and point your feet to get rid of any cramping that may be occurring in your aching feet.  This also helps the pooled fluids move out of your foot.  You can put your feet up and watch the news on television and still be taking care of your tired sore feet at the same time. 

                      Once the swelling has gone down you should fill a tub with warm comfortable water.  There are footbaths available now that have a whirlpool function.  If you really want to pamper your feet, add some Epsom salts or bath salts to the water.  You should soak your sore feet for at least thirty minutes. 

                      Once you have finished soaking your feet you should lift them out of the water one at a time and scrub them with a gentle soap and bath brush.  Wash your feet carefully between the toes and all around.  Rinse the soap off completely and pat the foot dry with a towel.  This is a good time to cut your toenails or treat the cuticles.  They will be nice and soft from the soaking.  Now you should rub in a good quality foot lotion into the muscles of your feet.  While you are rubbing your feet make sure that you pay particular attention to the balls and heels of your feet as well as your ankles and arches.  Take the time to work on each toe and you will feel the ache and tension just float away from your feet. 

                      For the best care of your feet you should pay attention to your shoes.  You should have at least two pair of shoes that fit you well and are comfortable enough to wear to work.  You should make sure you alternate between the shoes so that they have a good amount of time to dry out in between wearing.  You can reduce the odor on your feet and shoes by wearing socks that are absorbent and using a foot spray deodorant.  These sprays are perfect for any time that you want a little quick relief from your sore aching feet. 

                      At the end of your busy day, take a little time to give yourself the special treatment that your sore feet and legs need.  You worked hard all day to get those aching feet, you deserve this special treat.

It must have straightened my spine out or something. It sounds too simple but something helped me incredibly. I use it about once per week but can barely remember what lower back pain feels like.

                                      What can be the cause of these back pains?
                                      I'm often getting back pains, middle to upper after I eat. It doesn't feel muscular, it's a weird pain back pains but it's very strong. It gets stronger as I stay sitting down, I have to get up and walk and the it gets a little better. Sometimes I feel gas but I'm not sure if this is the cause. Is there any web page I can go which explains what these symptoms can mean and what can be causing this?

                                      The diagnosis of lumbar back pain is difficult and uncertain due to the various conditions which can present with this problem. Effective back pain management depends on identifying what kind of back pain problem is present, and many people have suggested that there are many back pain subtypes which need to be identified before treatment can be well targeted. The variations in diagnoses for low back pain and related symptoms include: postural pain; trigger point pains; nerve root compression; neuropathic pain; facet joint pain; disc related pain and lumbar stenosis.

                                      The spinal facet joints, intervertebral discs, muscles and ligaments are all potential sources of mechanical back pain, a pain derived from the damaged or injured tissues and transmitted by the nervous system. When the nervous system is damaged or injured it can start generating pain itself, leading to the production of what is termed neuropathic pain. Typical diagnoses of this kind of pain are post-shingles pain, phantom pain, nerve root damage pain and diabetic neuropathy pain. Patients suffer badly with this kind of unpleasant pain and it is difficult to treat.

                                      A recent study performed by researchers from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, UK, has investigated this difficulty. They recognised that the assessment by taking a back pains score of pain intensity does not reflect the reality of the complex nature of pain processes by which pain is generated. They set out to design an assessment which would take these complexities into account, allowing the clearer identification of the diagnosis and thereby a potentially more accurate treatment. They developed a standardised tool to use in the assessment of chronic pain with the aim of delineating differing pain subtypes.

                                      130 people with peripheral neuropathic pain and 57 people with mechanical low back pain were surveyed and given a standardised assessment. An interview with 16 questions was then applied followed by a specific series of twenty-three physical tests. A list of words applicable to pain descriptions was provided and patients were asked to indicate which ones most accurately described their pain. In chronic pain patients often have an alteration in the ability to feel touch, vibratory and pin prick stimuli so the ability to discriminate these sensibilities is tested.

                                      In neuropathic pain patients it was possible to identify six sub-groups and in non neuropathic patients two further subgroups were noted. Researchers were also able to distinguish the 6 questions and 10 physical tests which were best suited to making the most accurate discrimination between the pain subtypes. Testing this tool on one hundred and thirty seven further patients allowed the researchers to see it worked effectively and that patient acceptability was good. A particular group of neuropathic pain subtypes could be elucidated by a relatively low number of signs and symptoms which were not related to the presenting causative conditions.

                                      The recording of the symptoms was less sensitive in distinguishing the neuropathic nature of the pains than the physical examination. The pain quality was less important than often noted and the pinprick testing more helpful. The researchers tried to link the pain subtypes with specific underlying biological mechanisms, with spontaneous pain of a burning nature linked to spontaneous discharges in heat sensitive pain nerves and pain from brushing related to increased sensitivity of cells in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord.

                                      The physical examination was more sensitive in delineating neuropathic diagnoses of pains than the recording of the types and nature of symptoms.  The qualities of the pain were less helpful and the testing of pinprick more helpful. The researchers attempted to connect the underlying neural mechanisms with the pain subtypes. The heat sensitive pain nerves were linked to burning pains of a spontaneous type and heightened sensitivity of the spinal cord dorsal horn cells was linked to increased pain from brushing over the skin.
